Dennis Rwafa yesterday said the college of health sciences and the faculty of veterinary services would, however, open next Monday.
“We are opening for the second semester of the school year that started in August last year on February 25 with two faculties opening earlier,” he said.
“Students should be assured that the water woes and accommodation challenges are now a thing of the past. We have been enjoying good water supply and our reservoirs are at full capacity.”
Mr Rwafa added: “For those wishing to reside on campus, the accommodation is available.”
Perennial water shortages have in the past resulted in disturbances mainly to undergraduate students.
In 2008, opening of the first semester was postponed from August to November amid fears that the water shortage would result in a major disease outbreak.
The following year, the water problems forced the university to close its doors to the majority of undergraduate students and the authorities were forced to suspend lectures and close halls of residence for students.
The institution opened in 2011 after the construction of a 2,5-megalitre reservoir.
