RUTH Hwara (24) is appealing for financial assistance to raise US$30 000 to enable her to have a kidney transplant in India.
Hwara was diagnosed with chronic kidney disease (CKD) last year and currently goes for dialysis twice a week.
“Shortly after I graduated from the University of Zimbabwe in December 2022, my life took a tragic turn when I was diagnosed with chronic kidney disease.
“Now, my existence depends on the gruelling routine of dialysis, enduring five-hour sessions twice a week,” she said.
Hwara said a specialist doctor told her that kidney transplant was needed for her to survive.
“My specialist made it clear that a kidney transplant is my only chance at survival, and the cost of this life-saving procedure in India is estimated at US$30 000. That’s a staggering amount which is way beyond my reach.
“That’s why I am appealing to Zimbabweans, hoping that you can find it in your hearts to support me in these desperate times.
“Every day, I fight to cling onto life, dreaming of a future free of the restraints of CKD.”
Hwara said that she longed to break free from dialysis and regain her health, and reclaim her “place in society”.
“Your assistance could be the lifeline that pulls me out of this dark abyss for a chance to breathe again and to pursue my dreams,” she pleaded.
Hwara can be reached on 0777810942, and her bank details are as follows: Ruth D Hwara, Ecobank Nelson Mandela Branch, account number 5730300012014.
