A team of University of Zimbabwe students leaves for China on Sunday to represent the country in the Enactus World Cup competition set for October 20 to 25. The competition is a showcase of how students can transform lives through entrepreneurial skills and seeks to groom youths into successful entrepreneurs and good managers. Zimbabwe is part of 36 countries participating in the competition in Beijing.

Tongaat Hullet and University of Zimbabwe are partnering The Boost Fellowship to sponsor the winning team on their journey.
The UZ came out first at the National Enactus competitions held recently, while the National University of Science and Technology came second.
Chinhoyi University of Technology and Bindura University of Education were third and fourth respectively.

The winning team’s advisor, Dr Charity Manyeruke said all was now in place for the trip.
“We are leaving on the 19th of October and we will be back on the 26th of October,” she said. “All is now in place and the team is ready to participate in the global competition.”

The Enactus programmes in Zimbabwe are run by the Boost Fellowship, a non-governmental organisation established to help young people adopt a possibility-oriented approach towards life for a successful future.

Boost provides programmes for youths in every university in Zimbabwe as well as in high schools.
Boost Fellowship programmes manager, Mrs Hope Mudangwe said the organisation’s programmes were an important development tool.

“Through Boost programmes, youths have an opportunity to combat the problem of unemployment and underemployment by helping promising young people to start viable businesses backed by micro loans, mentorship opportunities and training in leadership and innovation,” she said.
