VAINONA School rugby coach Shingi Zhoya has commended the girls team after they notched their fourth win to remain top of the table. Vainona are on top of the table with 20 points, tied with nearest rivals Girls High who are also unbeaten, while Mbare have 12 points.
Girls High will take on Mabvuku in another match at Vainona.
“Our training this week has been good. There are no injuries and we are now looking forward to a win against Mbare.
“We are a strong side and I am confident that we are going to beat them.
“Our forwards are good, we were working on our scrums which needed a bit of polishing up and now everyone is ready.
“The only team which I feel might give us competition will be Girls High, but we will try and do our best when we play them,” said Zhoya. Vainona thrashed Royal College 52-0, in their last match, scoring eight tries.
Wing Stacey Mabika grabbed the first try with just five minutes into the game and Lorraine Kuguyo made no mistake with the conversion to make it 7-0.
Royal College made handling mistakes and it did not take long before Kuguyo put the second try of the day.
The wing scored in the eight minute and doubled the scoreline as she ensured a flying start with another superb conversion.
The tries kept on coming and the captain Hlengiwe Maphosa was on the score-sheet and she planted the last try before the break.
Kuguyo again made sure that her team would go to half time leading 28-0 after kicking in another conversion.
