LONDON.– Louis van Gaal on Thursday night admitted it’s already squeaky bum time for Manchester United.
Sir Alex Ferguson coined the famous phrase as United came from behind to overhaul Arsenal to take the title in 2003. United’s championship hopes in Van Gaal’s first season are already all but over. But that hasn’t stopped the Dutchman shifting uncomfortably in the dugout as he still struggles to get his ideas across after seven months in the hotseat.
Van Gaal remains under pressure to ditch his 3-5-2 system in favour of the 4-4-2 that Ferguson preferred.
But speaking ahead of last night’s FA Cup trip to Cambridge United, Van Gaal revealed reverting to the tried and trusted formation is making him a nervous wreck. “I know all the statistics,” said the United boss. “I know that with 4-4-2 the stats are giving the positive results. – The Daily Star.
