ZANU PF’S cyber team – Varakashi4ED – has vowed to garner more than one million votes for President Mnangagwa and the ruling party during the 2023 harmonised elections through massive social media campaigns.
In an interview on the sidelines of a march orchestrated by Varakashi4ED which was dubbed ‘ED Works Road Show’ last week on Saturday in Mutare, the team’s Manicaland chairman, Cde Nelson Madzima said they are confident that they will mobilise more than a million voters for the party through online campaigns.
“As Varakashi4 ED, we are confident that we will contribute more than 30 percent of the votes through the ED Works Road Shows as well as social media initiatives. As a party, we will achieve more than five million votes come the 2023 harmonised elections,” said Cde Madzima.
“We are there to defend our President Mnangagwa and educate people about the developments that he has been spearheading since assuming office in 2017. Varakashi4ED has already been launched nationally and we want everyone with a smartphone and access to internet to actively defend the party online,” he said.
Cde Madzima added: “The party is being castigated for misdeeds it has nothing to do with, including poor service delivery in towns and cities that are the opposition’s strongholds.
“We need to spread the true gospel that the opposition has failed to deliver in these areas. The electorate must be made aware of the opposition’s shortcomings and correct their past mistakes of voting them into office,” said Cde Madzima.
He said through the able leadership of President Mnangagwa, cities and towns will be transformed through improved service delivery.
Cde Madzima rubbished claims that they will troll opposition supporters.
“We will peacefully defend the party through open dialogue or debates online. We will not be using violence or cyber bullying anyone.
“Our core mandate is to show the people how good the party and its leadership are by bringing forward evidence in the form of the developments happening around the country.
“President Mnangagwa is spearheading all that. We are targeting social media fanatics who are eligible voters but haven’t decided who to vote for,” he said.
In a separate interview, a member of Varakashi4ED, Cde Shelly Matsikesimbe said they will share President Mnangagwa’s good work and compliment the ruling party’s efforts of ensuring efficient and reliable service delivery.
