IT’S game on!
Nineteen of the country’s finest athletes are ready to tear up the track in the Coca-Cola ZITF Four Minute Mile Final — set to blast off Saturday morning at the ZITF Conference Centre grounds.
Originally, twenty-six runners were meant to battle it out in Friday’s semi-finals, but only nineteen showed up, forcing organisers to scrap the knockouts and throw everyone straight into the final!
Leading the charge is defending champion Wellington Varewi, the man on a mission. After clocking a blistering 4 minutes 17.02 seconds in qualifiers, Varewi is eyeing his fourth crown — a feat that would ink his name in history! But that’s not all: he’s got his sights set on the legendary 3:58 national record laid down by Gray Mavhera a staggering 28 years ago.
Hot on his heels are speedsters Elijah Mabunu (4:17.93), Trust Hove (4:19.03) and Trust Chidomaya (4:28.71) — all ready to cause an upset.
The stage is set. The stakes are high.
Who will make history? Who will fall short?
Find out today at the ZITF grounds — where dreams will be made… or shattered!
