AFTER an eight-year sabbatical, one of Bulawayo’s well established entertainment companies, Velli World Entertainment has bounced back with a bang.
Velli World Entertainment was established in January 2004 by Jabulani Hadebe (Mr Velli) as an entertainment promotions company. In its inception it was called Juluka Bunandi Promotions, then JB-Velli Connexion in 2006 and changed its name to Velli World Entertainment in 2007.
The institution majors in scouting for rising stars at primary and secondary schools in the categories of modelling, music and dance which saw the company discovering former Miss Zimbabwe, Samantha Tshuma who won the crown of Miss Bulawayo Schools and Miss Bulawayo Junior organised under Velli World.
The institution also boasts of grooming Magesh Tornadoes touted as the best male outfit dance group in Zimbabwe and Power FM presenter Dumisani Sibanda.
Programmes co-ordinator, Rukhsana Mohammed said the institution became inactive in 2010 due to the economic challenges facing the country.
“Velli World is now back with a bang, with the advent of a new era brought by political changes, there appears to be a window of hope in 2018 and it is for this reason that we would like to advise our followers, arts practitioners and various stakeholders of our return to the world of music and entertainment,” Mohammed said.
The institution will be carrying out a massive talent search in all primary and secondary schools in Bulawayo and surrounding areas to look for talented singers through a series of auditions under the theme “My African Dream — Rising Stars Programme”.
“The main aim is to draw the finest talents from within our localities and bring them to the heart of Zimbabwe and the region. Since our inception, we have developed a reputation as a trusted entertainment promotions institution.
“Those who make the grade will win themselves a recording contract to have their music published in our state-of-the-art studio at Bulawayo Centre.
Once recorded the music will be sent to numerous stations for broadcasting and our artistes would benefit from royalties,” she said.
Velli World incorporates Music Business School, Dejaying School, Recording Studio, Artistes Management and Entertainment Promotions.
