Vendors get free interest loans

The Southerton Constituency Community Development Trust (SCCDT) has come up with a fund that will benefit the informal sector in the suburb.
Vendors operating within the suburb will be eligible to access interest-free loans of up to $200.
The move seeks to address day-to-day issues facing people in the informal sector.
SCCDT chairman, Mr Andrew Makahamadze said the initiative has not only provided a much-needed lifeline but also instilled a renewed sense of pride and determination within the community.
“This is just the beginning, we are going to assist the SME sector to dream big, innovate, and create a brighter future for their families and this vibrant constituency we call home,” he said.
One of the beneficiaries, Mrs Eveline Kadzinga said this initiative has come at the right time to address daily issues facing vendors.
“I would love to thank Mr Makahamadze for the initiative he has brought to this community,” she said.
“Vendors have been facing problems in accessing loans from banks and this initiative solves that challenge.”
