Veteran prosecutor Mr Roderick Kudakwashe Tokwe has died. He was 50 years old. Mr Tokwe worked for the Attorney General’s Office, now National Prosecuting Authority, for 25 years and rose through the ranks to become the chief law officer responsible for the Appeals Section. He died yesterday morning at Avenues Clinic after a long illness.
Mr Tokwe joined the Ministry of Justice, Legal and Parliamentary Affairs as a prosecutor in 1988. He worked for more than 10 years at Marondera Magistrates’ Court before he moved to the Attorney General’s head office in Harare where he was elevated to the post of chief law officer.
Mourners are gathered at his Chadcombe house in Harare and burial arrangements will be announced in due course.
The Prosecutor General of Zimbabwe Mr Johannes Tomana described the death of Mr Tokwe as blow to the office and the legal fraternity at large.
