Veterinary charges reviewed

The Department of Veterinary Services has reviewed upwards charges for the services they offer in line with the foreign currency auction rate.

According to the DVS, the animal movement permit which used to cost $20 has been reviewed to $850.

A farmer will now pay $170 for dipping an animal up from $10. Stock card will cost $245 from $10, marketing, tagging and branding has been reviewed to $170 from $20. The department now charges a vaccination fee of $85 from $10, rabies vaccination now costs $85 and rabies certificate also costs $85.

DVS chief director, Dr Josphat Nyika confirmed the new charges on Tuesday.

“The new charges were approved by the Ministry of Finance and Economic Development. All our charges are on cost recovery basis,” he said.
