TICKETS for this year’s Jameson Vic Falls Carnival are selling like hotcakes with the Steam Train Party, Three Day Passes and Early Bird tickets all sold out, three months before the annual fete.
The annual three-day carnival, now in its third year, will take place in the resort town from December 29 to 31. Lauded as one of the top seven African music festivals to attend, this year’s edition will see artistes Oliver Mtukudzi, Winky D, Judgement Yard, South Africa’s Goldfish and Beatenberg headlining the event.

Organisers of the carnival said only tickets to the Colour Party, the Single-Day pass ($50) Two-Day Passes ($80) and New Year’s Festival ($50) were left.

One of the organisers, Emmanuel Tivatyi, said tickets were moving fast as people have been buying them in numbers.

“Most tickets have been sold out. We urge people to buy tickets early to avoid disappointment,” said Tivatyi.

He said people from Malawi, South Africa and Harare were the main buyers – with many still inquiring about the carnival.

Tivatyi said they were vigorously marketing the event as it attracted numerous tourists last year including South Africa’s socialite Bonang Matheba.

“We are busy marketing the event and are attending various events to make ourselves visible,” he said.

Bulawayo consultant for the Jameson Vic Falls Carnival, Ashleigh Bells, said outlets across the country and in neighbouring countries had been strategically positioned to sell tickets.

The steam train party which is always one of the carnival’s biggest highlights will take the carnivalistas to a secret bush, deep in the nature reserve on December 29 for a bush party. On their way to the secret bush in Jafuta, people will be partying on the train.
