A 46-year-old man has been arrested here after he allegedly kidnapped a nine-year-old boy and sodomised him twice before trying to silence him with a cellphone toy.
Joram Ndlovu, 46, of Betty homestead, under Chief Mvutu in Monde, appeared in court here on Monday facing one count of kidnapping and two counts of aggravated indecent assault.
Victoria Falls Resident Magistrate Gift Manyika remanded Ndlovu in custody to June 16.
Prosecutor Audrey Mukanganya told the court that last Friday Ndlovu kidnapped the boy.
He took him to a stand, which is in the Aerodrome suburb, which is yet to be developed.
She said Ndlovu then forced the boy to stay with him throughout the night from Friday into Saturday morning.
The boy’s father, according to the State, realised his son was missing at around 7,30pm on Friday.
“A search party was carried out around the vicinity but the boy could not be found.”
The following day, at around 9am, detectives from CID Victoria Falls received information to the effect that Ndlovu was seen with the boy near the Aerodrome area.
The detectives proceeded to the Aerodrome location where they found Ndlovu with the boy, leading to his arrest. The State claims Ndlovu sodomised the boy without protection. “After the act, Ndlovu gave the boy a cellphone toy, two watches and a black purse in order to silence him.”
