Ncube appeared before Victoria Falls resident magistrate Sharon Rosemani yesterday.

He allegedly committed the offence while the girl’s mother was at work.

Prosecuting, Listen Nare told how Ncube pounced on his niece on Friday last week.

“On November 28 and about 10am, the complainant was in the bathroom when the accused hatched a plan to rape her.  He locked the door before going into his room where he stripped naked and waited for the complainant to come out,” he said.

“The accused came out of his room naked when he heard the complainant trying to open the door after finishing bathing and dragged her to his room.”

The court heard that the girl screamed but no one came to her rescue.

The prosecutor said after the alleged rape, the girl told the shameless uncle that she was going to report him to her mother.

“After the alleged rape, the complainant bathed and washed her panties while telling her attacker that she would report him,” added the prosecutor.

The magistrate granted Ncube $400 bail while also ordering him to report at Victoria Falls Police Station once every week.

Ncube, who was represented by Givemore Muvhiringi of Dube and Partners, was also ordered to surrender his travel documents, reside at his given address and also not to interfere with witnesses.

He returns to court on December 12.
