HARARE, Zimbabwe — Vice President Dr Constantino Chiwenga today officiated at the SADC Malaria Day commemorations, marking the launch of the “Zero Malaria Starts with Me” campaign.

The event underscored the region’s commitment to eradicating malaria and improving public health.
In his address, VP Chiwenga highlighted the success of cross-border initiatives aimed at reducing malaria infections within the Southern African Development Community (SADC) bloc.
He noted that these collaborative efforts have made significant strides in combating the disease, which continues to pose a public health challenge in the region.
VP Chiwenga also paid tribute to community healthcare workers, referring to them as the “unsung heroes” in the battle against malaria.
He emphasised their crucial role in raising awareness, providing treatment, and implementing preventive measures at the grassroots level.
The launch of the Zero Malaria campaign aims to mobilise communities and stakeholders to take collective action towards malaria elimination.
The Vice President’s remarks reflect a strong commitment to enhancing health initiatives and ensuring that malaria becomes a disease of the past in the SADC region.
