Minister of State for Mashonaland East Provincial Affairs and Devolution, Dr Apollonia Munzverengwi has commended local authorities across her province for channelling devolution funds towards accelerating development for the benefit of the people.

Speaking during the official commissioning of Maramba High School’s science laboratory, Dr Munzverengwi said such initiatives represent a significant milestone in the journey towards the attainment of Vision 2030.
“We are taking a bold step towards reaffirming our commitment to the principles of subsidiarity and decentralisation, by bringing governance closer to the people,” she said.

“We are empowering our local communities to shape their future and address the unique challenges they face. These devolution projects are in tandem with President Mnangagwa’s mantra of leaving no one and no place behind.

“Our rural areas have been lagging behind when it comes to access to quality education. This disparity has not only hindered the academic and intellectual growth of our youth but also limited the potential for innovation and technological advancement in UMP District.

“However, with the implementation of this devolution project (Maramba science laboratory), we are taking a significant stride towards bridging this gap and ensuring that our rural communities have the necessary tools and resources to unlock their full scientific potential.”
