VICTORIUS LIVING: Prayer is not a spare wheel

Greetings to all in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.

This week something got to me and almost threw me off the rails. So much so that, solace only came when I remembered the Word preached to me last week.

There are times when things seem to be going well as you sail in the ship of life with no huge winds throwing you off as in Acts 27:7, but then all of a sudden everything breaks down and what you thought you were in control of spirals.

A storm rises threatening to sink you and leaving you in a state of frustration, confusion and uselessness.

It is during that time that temptation comes to panic and throw your luggage out to sea in surrender, so to speak.

All of a sudden you are throwing you baggage in the sea out of panic. Then you begin to walk in self condemnation and defeat.

The good news is that you are not alone as everyone goes through that.

It is a fact of life that at any time you are either in a storm, getting out of a storm or headed for one.

Last weekend I attended a Redemption Faith Ministries summit, hosted by Reverends Maxwell and Desiree Cedric, and the message delivered by Prophet Joseph Kazhila from Zambia touched on storms that rise up in our lives.

Making references to Luke 8:24 and 10:19, Prophet Kazhila said storms would come in different forms: social, economic or physical.

The sad reality of the situation is that when confronted by such storms many Christians unfortunately try to find solutions without involving God.

There is always a plan A, B or C before they realise that there is a God who created them.

It is only after all the scheming and fact finding missions have failed that one turns to God, this all the while forgetting it is He who is the Alpha and the Omega.

In Luke 8 verse 22 the good thing about Jesus’ disciples is that they realised the solution to their problems lay with waking him up as he soundly slept in the boat. For some instead of prayer being a steering factor, it is a spare wheel which they use as an option and not the first but the last.

Prayer has to be a priority or we are likely to find ourselves on the verge of being sunk by the storms of life.

My spiritual father once said the moment a storm gets a name like Hurricane Katrina or Euroclydon as in Acts 27:14 be assured there is trouble.

The best way is to let the wind blow itself senseless while you simply put your trust in God.

If one tries to fight the wind, which Prophet Kazhila said can be a demon, without God being the steering wheel it can in most cases become bigger than you.

In the process, you waste resources and time in trying to be a know-all instead of letting it pass while you let God be your stronghold.

Prophet Kazhila also said, by not praying or reading The Bible it also means that you are also putting God to sleep and sooner rather than later you will begin to walk in the flesh.

Is God awake or asleep in your life?

He has already declared in Luke 10:19 that; “Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents, scorpions and over all the power of the enemy. Nothing shall by any means hurt you.”

When we look for solutions that are flesh driven it sends a message that we do not know who God is, and as such the root causes of our problems remain unsolved.

When Jesus arose to witness his disciples’ panicking The Bible says he rebuked the wind.

This was the source which had stirred all the trouble and now only God can reveal the source of the storms in our lives and with Jesus we have the power to rebuke them.

To anyone facing a storm today meditate on Psalms 116:1-8 below and know that God is waiting to hear from you.

“I love the Lord, because he hath heard my voice and my supplications. Because he hath inclined his ear unto me, therefore will I call upon him as long as I live.

“The sorrows of death compassed me, and the pains of hell gat hold upon me: I found trouble and sorrow.

“Then called I upon the name of the Lord; O Lord, I beseech thee, deliver my soul. Gracious is the Lord, and righteous; yea, our God is merciful. The Lord preserveth the simple: I was brought low, and he helped me.

“Return unto thy rest, O my soul; for the Lord hath dealt bountifully with thee. For thou hast delivered my soul from death, mine eyes from tears, and my feet from falling.”

Until next week keep living a victorious life in the name of Jesus Christ, and watch out for The Sunday Mail at your place of worship.
