THE Senior Minister of State in the President’s Office, Cde Simon Khaya, has called on MPs to develop a culture of accountability and work closely with the communities that elected them into office.Addressing scores of party supporters during victory celebrations at Ganyambi Primary School in Nkayi North on Thursday, Cde Khaya Moyo congratulated area MP Cde Sithembiso Nyoni for retaining the seat.
Cde Nyoni is the Minister of Small to Medium Enterprises.
“We want MPs who will spend time with the people and we will expect to see reports of what they are doing. We don’t want MPs called ‘missing persons’ who will only appear during re-election period,” said Cde Khaya Moyo who is also Zanu-PF national chairman.
“We swept all seats in Matabeleland South and we expect you to do the same in 2018. We know the mistakes made in the previous election and that should be rectified.”
Zanu-PF Matabeleland North provincial chairman Cde Richard Moyo promised a clean sweep in the next election, saying the party was more united now than ever.
“We don’t have factions in this province and come 2018 we are going to do wonders. If there is anyone advancing his own agenda we don’t want to associate ourselves with them and we are promising to implement all the party programmes in the province,” he said.
Cde Moyo challenged all government officials to work hard towards implementation of Zim-Asset saying the fulfillment of the new economic blue print would yield positive results for all.
Cde Nyoni took the opportunity to express gratitude to people in her constituency for electing her. She took time to explain key issues in the Zim-Asset document that were meant to develop communities.
Cde Nyoni said for Zim-Asset to succeed all Zimbabweans should play their role.
She challenged her constituency to practise value addition and develop themselves.
