AUTHOR and youth mentor, Kudakwashe Muganu has added another accolade to his growing collection after receiving an award at the prestigious Africa Icon Awards in Johannesburg, South Africa.
The event brought together outstanding achievers from 14 African nations, celebrating individuals making a positive impact in their respective fields.
Among the notable award recipients were comedian Madam Boss, Minister Paul Mavhima, Dr Vivian Maponga and former South African football star Siphiwe Tshabalala.Speaking after receiving the award, Muganu described the occasion as a powerful symbol of African unity.
“It was more than an awards ceremony. It was history in the making. Seeing people from different African countries gathered in one room reminded us that there is power in unity and collaboration,” he said.
Muganu also used the platform to speak against xenophobia, saying African nations can only prosper through mutual respect and cooperation.
His rise to prominence has largely been driven by his award-winning book, ‘Who Does Not Want to Quit School?’, which promotes the importance of education and resilience among young people.
“This award is not just for me. It is a message to every young person that your background does not determine your future.
“If you stay focused and work tirelessly towards your dreams, anything is possible,” he said.
The book has already earned two awards and opened doors for speaking engagements across the region. Muganu is also taking its message to wider audiences through programmes on local radio stations.
“This is not just a book, it is a movement aimed at transforming lives through education,” he said.
From village pathways to continental stages, Muganu’s journey continues to inspire countless Africans to dream bigger and reach higher.
