A village head under Chief Mupamombe in Kadoma, Ignatius Tazvivinga (65) has appeared before the Kadoma Magistrates’ Court facing fraud charges.

Tazvivinga is alleged to have sold land belonging to the Kadoma City Council to land seekers claiming that the remainder of lot Railway 7 belonged to the Mupamombe clan.

The land seekers were made to pay a minimum of US$250 which was said to be the chief’s token of appreciation and were given affidavits as proof of purchase.

They were then allocated land and they built houses on the land. On February 1, 2024, the Kadoma City Council reported the illegal settlers to CID Law and Order. Tazvivinga was arrested and he failed to give a satisfactory account of his dealings.

He was remanded to October 8, 2024.
