Villagers construct dam to improve water supplies

Plumtree Correspondent
VILLAGERS from Makorokoro area in Mangwe District are constructing a dam across Sanzukwi River.
In a recent interview, the area’s councillor, Clr Clement Majahana, said the project was meant to improve the village’s water supplies.“We are facing water shortage challenges and we hope this dam will guarantee us adequate water supplies throughout the year. Rain water is passing through here because there are no dams,” said Clr Majahana.

“We started working on the project in June last year and we hope the dam will be ready before the start of the rains,” said Clr Majahana.

He said the area’s National House of Assembly Member, Cde Obedingwa Mguni recently donated bags of cement towards the project.
Clr Majahana said the dam will apart from providing water for livestock, also irrigate community gardens.
