VILLAGERS and some members of the religious community have heaped praises to their local member of Parliament Cde Simelisizwe Sibanda for spearheading a number of projects that have improved their social, economic and educational situation.

Cde Sibanda, who was elected in the 2023 harmonised elections as a Zanupf candidate, is also the deputy Minister of Higher and Tertiary Education, Innovation Science and Technology Development.

In separate interviews, villagers said their social and economic situation as well as their children’s educational conditions have been on a positive trajectory since Cde Sibanda assumed office and they were confident that they too will contribute towards an upper middle income society by 2030.

They said despite him being a deputy Minister which meant that he had to attend to a number of Government duties, Cde Sibanda always finds time to also attend to constituency issues.
“We are happy with the work that has so far been done by our MP.

He has uplifted our education through a number of initiatives such as school building materials, drilling solar powered boreholes in some schools and donating uniforms to 450 vulnerable primary and secondary school learners from 45 schools in the district,” said Ms Buthiwe Mloyi from Ward 22.

She said Cde Sibanda also facilitates registration of Presidential scholarship for academically gifted young boys and girls from the constituency and has so far supported over 200 households with poultry projects, secured a number of Village Business Units (VBUs), a development that economically empowered the beneficiaries.

Apostle Somandla Mathe from Ward Seven said Cde Sibanda’s tenure has been marked by transformative development initiatives that have significantly uplifted the community, fostering socio-economic growth and improved quality of life in the area in particular and constituency in general.
“Sibanda’s approach blends visionary leadership, inclusivity, and responsiveness. He has prioritized sustainable, people-centered development, aligning with national goals. His efforts reflect a commitment to leaving a lasting legacy in Bubi Constituency,” said Apostle Mathe.

He said the MP has been steadfast in the initiation of new dams and borehole drilling projects which has addressed chronic water scarcity while improving access to water for households, livestock and irrigation.
“We have seen the construction of new schools and renovation of existing facilities in some schools. Computer donations to schools have equipped learners with 21st-century skills, bridging the digital divide,” said Apostle Mathe.

Mr Danisa Ncube from Ward 19 said for the first time, they had seen some equipment coming straight from Government being handed over to schools in their ward.
“We have seen equipment from Government particularly President Mnangagwa coming to the ward for the first time such as computers that were donated to Mangubeni Secondary School. He also gave uniforms to learners from schools in the ward.

Since coming in as our MP we are realizing that development that was happening in other constituencies over the years was also happening in ours as well, all this thanks to Cde Sibanda,” said Mr Ncube.
