All is set for the third edition of the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCAs) in Lagos, Nigeria. tonight. Award winning artistes 2Face Idibia, P-Square, Diamond, Mavins Crew and Don Jazzy are some of the artistes billed to perform at the show which will air live on all Africa Magic channels at 5PM.
Hosting the 2015 AMVCAs are Big Brother Africa host, IK Osakioduwa, and Zimbabwean television personality and StarGist host, Vimbai Mutinhiri.
The AMVCAs were created to celebrate the contribution of African filmmakers, actors and technicians in the success of the continent’s film and television industry.
In a statement, Africa Magic said the number and quality of entries for this year’s edition were a great improvement from the previous editions.
“The event promises to be spectacular as guests at the show and viewers at home will be treated to the best entertainment from some of Africa’s finest talent including 2Face Idibia, Lola Rae, The Mavins Crew, Basket Mouth, among others.”
The first edition of the AfricaMagic Viewers’ Choice Awards took place in Lagos in March 2013, and was broadcast live from Lagos to DStv audiences in more than 50 countries across the continent.
In the 2014 edition, multi-award winning actress, Nse Ikpe-Etim, took home the award for best actress in MicheleRacca’s Journey To Self while Ghanaian film producer/director, Shirley Frimpong-Manso’s movie The Contract won in several categories.
The 2014 AMVCAs also saw renowned film and TV veteran, Pete Edochie, winning the prestigious Lifetime Achievement award.
