ZIMBABWE leading professional golfer Scott Vincent has completed his comeback to LIV Golf, earning his place for the 2026 season after the conclusion of the PIF Saudi International, the final event of The International Series calendar.
After being relegated last year, Vincent topped The International Series Rankings to secure his return to the LIV Golf League. This is the second time he has won the International Series Rankings, having also claimed the inaugural title in 2022.
Vincent finished with 335,11 points to seal his LIV Golf League comeback. Japan’s Yosuke Asaji finished second with 285,30 points.
Despite a challenging final round at the PIF Saudi International on Saturday, where he carded a four-over-par 75 to finish on eight-under-par 276, Vincent was pleased with the overall achievement.
He said he had hoped to play freely and give his all, despite feeling nervous.
“I think it’s still settling in. Right now, all I want to do is go see my family. Yeah, we’ll head towards them tonight and can’t wait to see them. I woke up at about 4:30, which was two hours earlier than I had hoped. Then you start playing all the different scenarios in your head, which was not what I was hoping for,” said Vincent.
“Yeah, I kind of just wanted to come out here and just play freely and give it my best, but yeah, I was nervous. Obviously, not knowing and not trying to look at leaderboards, you don’t know how much of a cushion you have. You don’t want to be the guy who’s ahead and loses, all those things.”
Vincent previously played two seasons with Iron Heads GC. Two LIV Golf spots were on offer through the International Series Rankings.
At the PIF Saudi International powered by SoftBank Investment Advisers, he was part of an eight-way tie for sixth, which also included his brother Kieran.
Meanwhile, Elton Zulu produced a solid performance, closing with a level-par 72 to claim a three-shot victory over Blessing Gondo at the 2025 Harry Allen Classic held at Harry Allen Golf Club in Bulawayo over the weekend.
Zulu carded four-over-par 220 to secure the championship, his third victory of the season.
This year marked the first time the Harry Allen Classic was recognised as a World Amateur Golf Ranking (WAGR) event, attracting a highly competitive field.
Zulu opened the tournament, the penultimate event on the 2025 Zimbabwe Golf Association (ZGA) calendar, with a level-par 72 on Saturday morning before posting a four-over-par 76 in the second round later that day. He then carded another 72 to hold off Gondo’s challenge.
Gondo finished on seven-over-par 223, with rounds of 73, 74 and 76.
With Zulu and Gondo finishing first and second respectively, Darlington Chikanyambidze secured third place on 15-over-par 231, with rounds of 76, 75 and 80.
The final event on the 2025 ZGA calendar is the Platinum Classic, scheduled for Norton Golf Club this coming weekend.
