THE tireless strategic efforts and visionary leadership of the First Family has been attributed to the country being among the world’s most admired nations, with global business magazine Forbes ranking the country as the Number One Destination in the World for 2025.
This is said to be a resounding endorsement of President Mnangagwa’s transformative leadership and the First Lady, Dr Auxillia Mnangagwa’s tireless efforts as the Patron of the Tourism and Hospitality Industry.
In a statement on Friday, the Ministry of Tourism and Hospitality Industry, the Zimbabwe Tourism Authority (ZTA), and the Mosi-oa-Tunya Development Company extended their warmest congratulations to the First Family on this historic achievement.
“The Ministry of Tourism and Hospitality Industry, the Zimbabwe Tourism Authority, and the Mosi-oa-Tunya Development Company congratulate His Excellency the President of the Republic of Zimbabwe Cde. Dr. E.D. Mnangagwa, for Zimbabwe being ranked the Number One Destination in the World for 2025 by Forbes,” read part of the statement.

The statement further noted that Zimbabwe’s rise to the pinnacle of global tourism is a direct result of the visionary and people-centred policies championed by the President.
“Through the remarkable and transformative leadership of His Excellency the President, Zimbabwe’s Tourism Policy and Strategies have harnessed our rich culture, heritage and warm hospitality, propelling the Nation to the apex of the global Tourism map.
“Tourism has become a powerful engine for Economic Growth, Job Creation and Community Transformation shining a bright light of hope and pride across Zimbabwe as we advance towards Vision 2030.”
The statement also paid glowing tribute to Her Excellency the First Lady, Dr. Auxillia Mnangagwa, for her pioneering work in community-based and gastronomy tourism.
“We also extend our heartfelt appreciation to Her Excellency the First Lady of the Republic of Zimbabwe, the Patron of the Tourism and Hospitality Industry, Dr. Auxillia Mnangagwa.
“Her tireless efforts and outstanding contributions in promoting Gastronomy Tourism, recognised by UN Tourism, UNESCO and SADC, are a testament to her trailblazing leadership. Her work in elevating AgroTourism4She continues to empower women, uplift Rural Communities and enrich Zimbabwe’s Tourism story.”

Under the First Lady’s guidance, Zimbabwe has witnessed a renaissance in rural tourism, with communities across the provinces benefiting from her initiatives that promote local cuisine, traditional crafts, and sustainable livelihoods.
Her recognition on international platforms has placed Zimbabwe firmly on the global tourism and cultural diplomacy map.
The Ministry also commended the dedication and unity of purpose displayed by its executive team.
“We commend the Executive team of the Ministry, led by the Minister of Tourism and Hospitality Industry Hon. Barbara Rwodzi, which also comprises the Deputy Minister Hon Tongai Mafidi Mnangagwa, Permanent Secretary Dr Takaruza Munyanyiwa, Chief Director Ms Tarirai Musonza, Finance Director Mr Collence Chirume and also the Zimbabwe Tourism Authority team led by the Acting Chief Executive Mr. William Stima.
“The Executive team has meticulously executed the President Mnangagwa’s National Development Strategy 1 (NDS 1) Strategies and the Patron of Tourism Dr Auxillia Mnangagwa’s guidance within a short space of time since the Ministry was separated from the Ministry of Environment, Climate and Wildlife, achieving remarkable progress in repositioning Zimbabwe’s Tourism Sector on the global stage, uplifting rural communities and enriching Zimbabwe’s tourism story.”
“Today, the world looks to Zimbabwe — our World of Wonders,” added the statement.
