Vocal Extraordinaire on Saturday launched their first album coupled with a DVD at Word of Life Auditorium.

Titled “I love to worship (Ebenezer)”, the album which has eight songs sold over 400 copies on the night.

The first copy of the DVD was auctioned for $15 with the rest being sold for $3 while the CDs went for a dollar. Lucky fans were awarded DVDs and CDs.

Family Covenant Church Pastor, Conet Moyo commissioned the CD and prayed for the group before Vocal Ex took to the stage, amid cheers from the packed auditorium.

The first song Isihlangu Sami got the crowd on their feet. They also performed tracks Akhona Amandla, Tumwite, Ndimambo, Hlala Kuye, Uphakeme, It is well, Kuwe baba and Wethembekile among others.

One of the group’s directors – Eric Moyo who also doubles up as a vocalist brought the roof down when he performed ‘Praise God’ – a track off Joyous Celebration’s latest album. Guest artiste Pearl Granger and Lorraine Stotombe, who performed with Rebecca Malope recently, also left the crowd in awe with their melodious voices. Vocal Ex closed the show with songs Mandigonera, Weminana, Vachagara and Tsamba, leaving people asking for more. They had to return to the stage to perform Nyathela ngesibindi.

Vocal-Ex founder Thembelani Mdlaziba described the launch as a success.

“It was a celebratory day, people came in their numbers. We thank our father, Pastor Moyo who commissioned our DVD and CD, which was sold out at the event.

“We believe God has deposited a music gift in us that’ll be celebrated and will touch lives everywhere,” said Mdlaziba.

He said the album – Ebenezer which means “this is how far the Lord has taken us,” was a reflection of the group’s journey thus far.

Those who missed the group’s album launch may watch them perform at Hartsfield Sports Grounds this Saturday. They will share the stage with other gospel musicians, Luminous and Tawanda Denga.
