Highlanders Football Club centenary celebrations have not only shone a spotlight on the players, coaches and supporters who built the institution, but also on a voice that has become synonymous with the club’s modern-day storytelling.

Broadcast journalist and sports commentator Thandazani Zimbwa, who produces content for Highlanders, Premier Soccer League and the Zimbabwe Football Association, has received widespread admiration from football fans across Zimbabwe, with many describing him as one of the country’s finest football commentators and analysts.

The praise follows an appreciation post by an online sports publication that highlighted Zimbwa’s contribution to football broadcasting and content creation, particularly his coverage of Highlanders and the domestic game.
What followed was an outpouring of support from fans, former players, administrators and fellow football enthusiasts who hailed the broadcaster’s ability to bring matches to life through insightful analysis and passionate commentary.

For many supporters, Zimbwa’s commentary during the recent Highlanders versus Dynamos encounters has become must-listen content. His vivid narration, tactical understanding and ability to explain the finer details of the game have earned him a growing following among football lovers.
One fan, Guide Kapita, said Zimbwa’s analysis stands out because of its fairness and depth.

“He is a cut above the rest. I always wait for his sports roundup because he offers a balanced and insightful analysis of what happened, giving credit where it’s due and pointing out what made the difference,” Kapita wrote on social media.

Another supporter, Regai Tsunga, was equally complimentary.
“Hate him or like him, Thandazani Zimbwa is a soccer commentator from the top shelf,” he said.
The admiration extends beyond the terraces. Former Warriors and CAPS United striker Alois Bunjira described Zimbwa as a gifted communicator whose personality matches his professional excellence.

“He is brilliant at his craft and a great personality,” said Bunjira.
Former Highlanders vice-chairman and football administrator Modern Ngwenya offered perhaps the most glowing tribute.

“My sincere congratulations on your recognition, Thandazani. You are indeed the finest narrator in sport journalism in Zimbabwe. Your voice does not merely record events — it illuminates them. May your insight grow sharper, your influence deeper, and your legacy enduring. You do not just report events; you reveal meaning. Your voice illuminates what others only report. Well deserved,” said Ngwenya.
