Cde Mangondo made the remarks yesterday while addressing scores of party supporters at Chemhanza Grounds in Tafara.
“Since MDC-T people were elected MPs and councillors in Harare, services have dilapidated because they do not have people at heart,” said Cde Mangondo.
“The forthcoming elections are presenting us with an opportunity to restore our dignity. Lets vote MDC-T out to ensure we restore our sunshine city status.
“Service delivery in the city is very poor. People do not have water. Roads are not being maintained. Grass is not being cut. Honestly, how can you continue giving such people power?
“It is abnormal for people in towns to rely on water from wells like what MDC-T has introduced. We experimented with the wrong people.”
Cde Mangondo, who will be contesting against MDC-T candidate for the area Mr Tendai Biti, castigated his adversary for failing to use the Constituency Development Fund on tangible projects.
“Biti tells you that he used CDF to construct pre-cast walls,” he said.
“Where are the walls? He also says some of the money is in the bank, why when people need the money to fix roads, to sort the sewage mess?
“He thinks its normal for him to keep money in the bank, that is if its there, than to develop the constituency.”
Cde Mangondo said Zanu-PF was people and development oriented hence its empowerment programmes from the land reform to the indigenisation drive.
He blasted MDC-T for inviting illegal sanctions on the country.
Provincial deputy secretary for security, Cde Shupi Nyakabau urged party cadres to be disciplined ahead of the polls to avoid being arrested.
Provincial secretary for the disabled Cde Kudzi Ndoro urged supporters to come out in their numbers to vote for Zanu-PF.
She said service delivery was at an all time low after MDC-T councillors took over running the affairs of Harare.
An MDC-T activist took the opportunity presented by the rally to announce his defection to Zanu-PF.
Mr Ritson Abraham brought his MDC-T regalia that he surrendered to the party officials and was issued with the revolutionary party’s gear.
“I realised that MDC-T had no direction and decided to come back home,” he said.
“I am going to make sure I mobilise all my friends who are still lost so that they see the light.”
