VICE PRESIDENT Dr Constantino Chiwenga, has congratulated ACE Air and Ambulance for being nominated finalists in the International Travel and Health Insurance Journal (ITIJ) Air Ambulance of the Year Award 2022.

It’s been five years since ACE Air and Ambulance was last nominated.

It is competing with an American and Turkish company for the prestigious award.

The award winner will be announced on Friday in Athens, Greece.

“ACE Air and Ambulance was founded in 2015, and in its few years of operation, has made a mark in the EMS sector, not only here at home, but in SADC and Africa.

“As Government, we urge our emergency and ambulance services to comply with international standards,” said the Vice President, who is also the Minister of Health and ChildCare,

“I am glad that Ace Air and Ambulance was accredited by the leading Aeromedical Accreditation Institute, the European Aero-Medical Institute (EURAMI).

“EURAMI is a strong advocate for excellence among aeromedical transport providers in the World and has developed standards and promotes best practices in the fields of medical evacuation, air rescue, and contingency planning.”

He urged the company, and others in the industry, to maintain the highest levels of standards.

“My Ministry has a vision to accelerate the improvement of quality of life for all Zimbabweans in line with Vision 2030.

“Our National Health Strategy puts clearly key strategic outcomes the health sector must achieve by the year 2025.

“I am firmly persuaded that we are on the right trajectory as our vision is to bring world-class healthcare to all the people, across the length and breadth of this great country.

“The Second Republic promises to leave no one and no place behind.

“Despite the economic challenges, my Ministry has managed to construct and complete several health facilities across the country and fully equip them with modern equipment.”

He added:

“To this end, the Government is seized with addressing the conditions of service for health workers to reduce the rate of turnover, in this sector, which is affecting service delivery.

“I recently commissioned the Gweru Provincial Hospital Centre of Excellence and we have broken ground for the Quinary Teaching and Specialist Hospital in Harare.

“Our goal is to put Zimbabwe back on the global map for quality healthcare and innovation.”
