VP Mphoko to resume community projects

VICE President Phelekezela Mphoko has pledged to resume assisting vulnerable members of the community by donating 20 egg incubators and facilitating 10 biogas projects.

The incubators and biogas equipment will be handed over to vulnerable members of the community especially the aged.

The VP said this while addressing Zanu-PF members at an inter-district meeting in Bulawayo last week.

“I will distribute 20 incubators to the people, I also have biogas equipment for projects that will be handed over to the elderly here in Bulawayo,” he said.

The VP was responding to party members from various districts in Bulawayo who said they did not benefit from the day old chicks project last year.

“Yes, you are not alone, not every member of the community benefited, but some will be included in the coming projects. Even in Mashonaland not everyone received the donations. However, we will ensure that you are not left out in the forthcoming projects,” he said.

In an interview, Zanu-PF Bulawayo provincial chairman Cde Dennis Ndlovu said the province was appreciative of the work VP Mphoko was doing.

“We as Bulawayo welcome the project and we are happy that we have been afforded a chance again to get help from the VP and we will ensure that the things are put into good use,” he said.

Cde Ndlovu said he was grateful that the VP had chosen to assist Bulawayo and the beneficiaries will not disappoint.

The donation of day old chicks was launched in June last year in order to assist local communities with projects for sustaining themselves with locally available resources.

The project saw close to 20 000 day old chicks being distributed to members of the community.

The VP said the gesture was aimed at reducing poverty among members of the community and bringing development to the existing areas.

The day old chicks were sourced from Kezi farmer, Mr Peter Cunningham.
