VP Mujuru in spy warning

Zanu-PF should be wary of being infiltrated by agents of hostile Western governments working to destroy the party under the guise of promoting development, Vice-President Mujuru has said. VP Mujuru said this yesterday while addressing hundreds of party supporters at Harare International Airport who were welcoming President Mugabe back from the 69th United Nations General Assembly.
Her remarks follow reports that United States Embassy in

Harare second secretary Mr Eric Little has been receiving briefings on internal Zanu-PF discussions from MPs. Zanu-PF has said it is investigating the legislators.

She said: “Izvo zvamuri kutaura zvevanhu vekumavirira izvi . . . vanopinda nemumusangano. Ndakazvitaura tiri kuChinhoyi muna February, vanhu vakafunga kuti Mai Mujuru vavakupenga.

“Ndozvandainge ndichitaura kuti tirambe takavhara hapwa mumusangano. Hatidi mumusangano medu vanhu vanopindira vonyebera kunge vanogona stereki ivo vachida kuuya kuzokanganisa. (Westerners will always want to infiltrate the party. I mentioned this at a meeting in Chinhoyi in February, and some thought I was mad. This is exactly what I meant: that we should keep our party closely guarded. We do not want our party to be infiltrated by know-it-alls who are on a destructive mission”).

The VP also discouraged senior party officials from factional fights as these hindered President Mugabe’s execution of key executive mandates, such as the Sadc Chairmanship.

“Ticharamba tichitevedzera gwara renyu kuitira kuti kwamunoenda kumusoro muchibata zvimwe zvigaro zvinodarika muno, munoenda ikoko mune zimumvuri iroro rakadzikama, rinotyisa ratinenge tiinaro takupai nemusangano wedu weZanu-PF. (We will continue to follow your (President Mugabe’s) principles so that our massive support as Zanu-PF will always be with you, even when you execute regional and continental duties.

“Iyi inyaya yekuti kana kusina kubatana, hapana budiriro, nyaya inoda kusimbisiswa kubva pamusoro kusvika pasi mumusangano. Imimi semukuru weSadc; iko zvino mune chimwe chigaro chamuchatora chekuAU. (Zanu-PF — from the top leadership right down to its junior ranks — should uphold the saying, ‘there is no development without unity’. You are the Sadc Chair, and soon you will assume leadership of the African Union. Everything here at home should be smooth-sailing. We should remain tight-knit).”
