VP Mujuru urges leaders to serve people

The launch was also witnessed by chiefs, Masvingo Governor and Resident Minister Titus Maluleke, Minister of State in the Vice President’s Office, Sylvester Nguni, Minister of Tourism and Hospitality Engineer Walter Mzembi, Politburo member Cde Dzikamai Mavhaire and Masvingo business community representatives.
A similar farm centre and hardware was recently launched in Mashonaland Central.

“All leaders should bear in mind that they are leading people not animals. I am a Vice-President of the people not animals and should speak with them to get their concerns,” said VP Mujuru.
“As a leader you should ask  yourself what you are doing for the  people you represent so that you   don’t tarnish the image of the party and country.
“Musasvibisa zita remusangano (Don’t tarnish the image of the party by not serving people you represent).”

VP Mujuru said those in Government receive their salaries from taxpayers and it was imperative for them to serve people well.
“We get our income from your taxes  that you pay to Government that it is  our duty to visit you and serve your interests. Leaders should give you first preference otherwise they will be rendered useless.

“Leaders should ask themselves whether they are not putting the country’s name into disrepute or not. What are you doing for the people that are looking up to you?” she asked.
VP Mujuru said President Mugabe was concerned with what elected leaders  were doing for the people they represented.
“That is why we always come here to see you; President Mugabe cannot be with you always. He is concerned and asks us   if we are doing what the people elected us to do.

“President vanobvunza kuti hamusi kunoita zvimwe zvimapresident ikoko musingabatsiri vanhu (President   would ask, are you not presenting yourselves as little presidents   at the expense of helping them?),” she said.

VP Mujuru told the gathering that the event was not a Zanu-PF occasion but the revolutionary party supported good business initiatives.

“Some of you may think this is a Zanu-PF event but the truth is we were invited to officially launch the farm centre   and hardware. We support good   business initiatives like this one and we want to see an improvement in  people’s lives.
“Nico Orgo Farm Centre and Fabs hardware provides employment to   the people of Masvingo and will   definitely change their ways of living,” she said.
