adminAddressing delegates where she was moving a motion for the Zanu-PF 12th Annual National People’s Conference to take note of the address by the party’s First Secretary and President, Cde Mugabe, Cde Mujuru said factionalism, divisions and disunity worked against the existence of peace.
“The need and benefits of unity cannot be over-emphasised, it should be in our blood,” she said.
“Divisions and disunity work against peace, tranquility and development. Yes, we may hold divergent views on some issues, but at the end of the day we must all subordinate to the party spirit, ideology, principles, guidelines and regulations.”
Cde Mujuru said it was normal in society to have different views, but warned that it should not deteriorate to the level of factionalism, which is divisive.
She said the conference would be a lesson to the party that all Zimbabweans were sons and daughters of the soil.
Cde Mujuru commended President Mugabe for leading the land reform programme and the Presidential Well-Wishers’ Special Inputs Scheme, which has seen thousands of Zimbabweans benefiting.
Cde Mujuru reiterated President Mugabe’s call for the beneficiaries of the land reform programme to use the land productively to avoid disappointing the leadership.
She also challenged leaders to ensure that inputs were distributed fairly and they reached the intended beneficiaries.
“Corruption in the distribution of inputs or any other facet of our economy should not be tolerated. As your Excellency said, there is no room for corruption in our party and this conference should clearly pronounce itself against the vice which continues to threaten to destroy the moral fabric,” she said.
Cde Mujuru said the revolutionary party, true to its mission of liberating the country, would continue with measures that support growth of the economy.
She said 2011 witnessed growth of about 57.2 percent capacity utilisation in the manufacturing industry, up from about 43.7 percent in 2010.
Cde Mujuru also commended the Community Share Ownership Trust (CSO/T), which she said was meant to empower indigenous Zimbabweans to bolster growth of the economy.
She however, said the CSO/T should not be abused to benefit “a few unscrupulous individuals”.
Cde Mujuru also denounced the illegal sanctions imposed on the country by Western powers, saying they were having serious negative repercussions on ordinary Zimbabweans and affecting key institutions like hospitals, local authorities and schools as they could not access credit lines.
“We need to send a clear message to say no to sanctions and other efforts aimed at toppling our elected President,” said Cde Mujuru.
She also called for mobilisation of support for the referendum for a people-driven constitution in preparation for next year’s elections.
“There is a need for the party to conduct extensive and intensive voter education and voter registration in preparation for elections,” said Cde Mujuru.
