FOSTERING rapid economic growth towards the attainment of an empowered upper middle-income economy by 2030 as envisioned by President Mnangagwa demands that everybody rolls up their sleeves and put in some serious hard work.

Vice President Dr Constantino Chiwenga made these remarks when he spoke at the commissioning of the Zimplats Mhondoro-Mubaira hospital project presided over by President Mnangagwa yesterday.

Zimbabwe’s health sector is going through a reconfiguration process aimed at guaranteeing universal health coverage of sufficient quality consistent with an empowered upper middle income economy by 2030 as envisioned by President Mnangagwa.

The Vice President, who is also the Minister of Health and Child Care, commended the hospital project which he says will aid in the goal towards the attainment of the health sector vision premised on a national health strategy 2021-2025.

As the country goes for the harmonised elections later this year, VP Chiwenga implored the citizenry to take a leading role in safeguarding the sanctity of Independence by voting for the ruling Zanu PF party and President Mnangagwa, who has set the country on a trajectory for the attainment of an upper middle income society.

“President Mnangagwa wants to see a developed Zimbabwe, that is his vision which should be achieved by 2030. If we are to achieve this vision no one and no place should be left behind,” said VP                                     Chiwenga.

“It is a big responsibility which you and I should work to ensure it is achieved. We must all roll up our sleeves to achieve the national vision and we also need to work with private companies in pursuit of this vision.”

He said the Second Republic is alive to the notion that the quality of infrastructure in an economy is a measure of the quality of life of citizens in a country.

“Through the able leadership of our Guest of Honour, the Government is urging corporates to demonstrate good corporate social responsibility through investing in communities they are doing business in.

“We urge the private sector to complement Government initiatives in improving the standards of living of our people. Our guest of honour is a peace loving and people centric Statesman who has committed his entire life to serving the citizenry of Zimbabwe.

“As we shall be holding general elections in a few months to come, let us be guided by our guest of honour’s call for peace, love and harmony at all times. I urge you to vote for the revolutionary party and our guest of honour to ensure Vision 2030 is attained under his astute leadership,” said Vice President Chiwenga.

Second Secretary and Zanu PF Vice President Cde Kembo Mohadi said the oiled party juggernaut is raring to go ahead of the polls.

Cde Mohadi commended Zimplats for heeding the call of Government to take part in public private partnerships which has been identified as a key ingredient for growing the economy.

“We have been here before. We are geared to go. The meetings we have had with traditional leaders, we have got their assurances.

“Your Excellency, be rest assured that we are going to have a clean sweep in this part of the country, Mashonaland West,” said VP Mohadi.
