Government will soon open a vocational training centre in Mhangura that would benefit youths in the district, Makonde Rural District Council chairperson Cde Simbarashe Ziyambi has said.

Speaking on the sidelines of Zanu-PF victory celebrations held in Mhangura recently, Cde Ziyambi said the VTC would be opened in Ward 4, which is part of the defunct mining town of Mhangura.

“I’m pleased to say that Mhangura constituency will soon have its first-ever vocational training centre, which is aimed at equipping the youths with various manpower development skills,” he said.

Cde Ziyambi said the VTC would be housed at the former Makonde RDC offices and workshop in Mhangura.

“We have since engaged the Ministry of Youth, Sport, Arts and Recreation over the issue and we hope the centre will be opened soon so that we empower our youths with manpower developmental skills,” he said.

Mhangura legislator Cde Precious Chinhamo Masango said the move was in line with Government plans to empower youths and women educationally and economically.

“During the campaigns, our party’s manifesto emphasised on establishing more vocational training centres so as to empower the youths and women,” she said.

“I am happy that the Makonde RDC has heeded Government’s call by offering a place to establish the VTC for youths in Mhangura and surrounding areas.”

Cde Masango said he would strive to see the project was successfully implemented. Ward 4 Councillor Cde Anywhere Murimbika said he would engage residents and villagers from the ward to provide labour whenever it was needed to speed up the process.
