VUBACHIKWE gaffer, Gatsi Mukombwe, says their ZIFA Central Region Division One Soccer League showdown against pacesetters Sheasham is a battle which can bring the best out of his players.
John Nyikadzino’s Sheasham are leading the race for a place in the domestic Premiership.
They are leading the marathon with 39 points, in 17 matches, and they are the only side yet to lose, in the league, so far.
Tendai Chikuni’s Telone are second, five points adrift of the leaders.
Vubachikwe completes the top three and they are seven points off the pace.
“We are taking it game-by-game, we are also the underdogs in this fixture so we are not feeling any pressure,” said Mukombwe.
“Without any doubt, we are a competitive side which is in the promotional picture, and we will give it a fight.
“So far, so good, we have been playing well, we can’t complain much, it’s only the mid-season break that probably derailed our progress and the momentum that we had gathered in the first round.
“Winning the title will be a bonus to us, we are in the title race and we are waiting to see how the season will end.
“Playing Sheasham is a motivation, on its own, they are the team to beat, judging by their form.
“They have done well this season and that alone lessens the burden of motivating the boys.”
Moses “Bambo” Chunga’s Chapungu are sitting eighth on the table, 17 points behind top spot.
They are slated to face FC Platinum Under-19 at Ascot.
Telone need to collect maximum points in their remaining fixtures if they are entertaining any hopes of winning the championship.
They are set for a date against Kwekwe United in Kwekwe.
