HIGH-RIDING Vumbachikwe will be hoping to continue with their giant killing act when they welcome Zifa Central Soccer League champions Chapungu in Gwanda today. Chapungu will be playing their last game of the season as their final two games were against Tripple B Academy and Gwanda Ramblers who were expelled from the league during the mid-season break after failing to pay affiliation fees.

Vumbachikwe have enjoyed a good run of late, going four matches unbeaten with their biggest win so far being a 1-0 victory over Beitbridge based, Town United at Dulibadzimu.

The loss was the border town side’s first since their mentor, John Phiri took over in Week 11 and buoyed by the win Vumbachikwe  have continued to post some impressive results with the last being another 1-0 away win over FC Platinum Under-19s at Mandava Stadium last weekend.

Vumbachikwe secretary, Tofara Sibanda said his side is well prepared for the Premiership bound outfit and will be looking at nothing short of maximum points.

“Of course Chapungu are already in the Premiership but we want to floor them tomorrow (today).
“We have prepared well for them and there is nothing which we can stop us from collecting maximum points from them especially when you look at our form where we are unbeaten in four or so matches,” he said.

Chapungu vice-chairman, Acroid Moyo was also bullish ahead of the tie saying his side will be looking at preserving their fine run which saw them gaining promotion and said a win in Gwanda is a possibility.
