MULTI-AWARD-WINNING musician, Vusa Mkhaya has sprinkled some Zimbabwean magic into French DJ Romain Garcia’s first EP.

The EP, titled Syamo, was released on Friday and it has Mkhaya’s Ndebele vocals on it.

Mkhaya and his Parisian compatriot who is a producer of melodic house and techno music, announced the release of the EP on their Twitter accounts on Friday.

“In other news . . . Domain Garcia’s EP just came out and the title track has a sample of my composition,” is how the Lalela singer would announce the release.

Romain on the side just kept it short with, “My 1st EP is out Now!”

On how the track came about, the well-travelled singer had this to say.

“The song was sampled from a song that I wrote for Insingizi called Amathalenta. Roman sampled parts of that song and created this song. I met him through a collaboration he did with Ben Böhmer where they sampled the same song to create Cappadocia which was released in 2020 and has been streamed more than eight million times on Spotify.”

Romain’s maiden EP also features Mysterious Bird, Vertdada and Waves.

One thing is for sure, Vusa Mkhaya, who is this year’s Bulawayo Arts Awards (BAA) Outstanding Ambassador (Worldwide) winner, has represented Bulawayo in many countries. His stronghold has been Austria where he has been based for a long time.

The artiste who is the brains behind the Artistes for Social Change has been on a mission to collaborate with various artistes for the betterment of the industry. His most otable collaborative music project is Masiyephambili where he featured various Bulawayo artistes.

Those who want to experience Vusa Mkhaya’s live performance will be able to do so next week Tuesday as he is billed to perform at the “Real

Homecoming” show slated for the Zimbabwe Music Academy where he will share the stage with Berita and Bekezela. — @eMKlass_49
