Zimbabwe batsman Vusi Sibanda is ‘feeling good’ after his mid-pitch collision with fellow opening partner Hamilton Masakadza during the Chevrons’ World T20 match against Scotland on Thursday.
Play had to be stopped by about six minutes as Sibanda, 32, who later got four stitches on his chin, received treatment on the field following the incident that consequently had Masakadza run out for the second time in a row.
Zimbabwe went on to claim an important 11-run victory with Sibanda not contributing much both with the bat and in the field as he sat out the team’s defense of their 148 score.
He lasted only seven balls before pulling to deep square- leg, fueling questions over whether his concentration was still good after the nasty collision.
‘No, it was unfortunate,” he said.
“I am feeling good now.”
Sibanda said the team is determined to get past Afghanistan who have a 4-0 advantage in T20I meetings against Zimbabwe.
“If we want it more that will change, which I believe we do.
“It’s a different day and different opposition, we just have to concentrate on executing our plans,” said Sibanda whose match winning 54 against Hong Kong set up Zimbabwe well in the qualifiers.
Zimbabwe will play Afghanistan on Saturday in a match that will determine who progresses to the main phase of the competition.
The winner of the group will progress to meet West Indies, defending champions Sri Lanka, South Africa and England in the main stage of the tournament.
