adminA key witness in Vybz Kartel murder trial was shot and killed in Portmore on Monday. Sources confirmed with Urban Islandz that Damion “Ratty” Orrett was gunned down by armed thugs in Waterford, Portmore at around 9am.
Another man, who is not connected to Kartel’s trial, was also injured in the shooting.
There are still no words from police officers on whether or not his killing was linked to him being a witness in Kartel’s high-profile murder trial.
Vybz Kartel, real name Adidja Palmer, was convicted for Clive “Lizard” Williams murder in March of this year.
Over 20 witnesses took the stand to testify against the famed dancehall deejay. One of the jurors in the case was charged with corruption of allegedly trying to bribe the foreman and other members of the jury.
Vybz Kartel was sentenced to life imprisonment with the possibility of parole in 35 years.
His co-convicts, Shawn Storm, Kahira Jones, and Andre St. John were also sentenced to life.
The former Portmore Empire boss is currently appealing the conviction. — Urban Islandz.
