SONGWRITER and guitarist, WaCharie, has released two new singles, “Parumano” and “Moyo Wangu”, offering listeners an intimate musical journey inspired by resilience, hope and the strength to overcome life’s challenges.
Born Tawanda Charie, the contemporary acoustic and Afro-fusion artiste has built a reputation for heartfelt song writing, intricate acoustic guitar arrangements and soulful Shona lyrics.
The new releases follow his acclaimed 2025 EP “Mazwienzara”, but this latest offering takes a more personal direction, drawing from one of the most difficult periods of his life.
The two songs, released this week, explore the emotional weight of hardship while encouraging listeners to remain hopeful amid adversity.
“Parumano” reflects on difficult choices and the determination required to keep moving forward, while “Moyo Wangu” turns inward, focusing on healing, patience and finding peace within oneself.
Speaking on the inspiration behind the project, the gifted lyricist, said the music was born during one of the darkest seasons of his life and became the very source of strength that helped him keep going.
“I wrote these songs at a time when I was at my absolute lowest. As I poured my thoughts into the music, I found the encouragement to keep going right inside these melodies. Music has always been my refuge because I believe it is the cure to many of life’s burdens.
“My greatest desire now is that anyone who listens, no matter what difficult situation they are going through, finds the strength to keep standing and to keep believing that tomorrow can be better.
“These songs are bigger than my own story. They are for anyone carrying silent battles, whether it is grief, disappointment, illness, uncertainty or simply feeling overwhelmed by life. If someone hears these songs and finds even a little hope to keep moving forward, then I will have achieved exactly what I set out to do,” he said.
Rather than telling only his own story, the gifted guitarist hopes the songs will resonate with people facing different forms of hardship. The themes touch on everyday realities such as toxic work environments, delayed opportunities, family illness, grief and the uncertainty many experience in daily life.
By combining authentic Shona storytelling with stripped-back acoustic arrangements, WaCharie continues to produce music deeply rooted in Zimbabwean culture while carrying messages that speak to audiences beyond the country’s borders.
His songs often avoid superficial themes, instead focusing on real-life experiences and emotions that many listeners can relate to.
Since launching his professional career in 2013, WaCharie has steadily established himself as one of Zimbabwe’s respected acoustic musicians.
He has released three studio albums — “Bumharutsva” (2018), “Tangerima” (2019) and “Chidzorogodo” (2024) — as well as the four-track EP “Dzeupenyu: Life Stories” in 2020.
His 2025 EP “Mazwienzara” further showcased his versatility by blending folk, Afro-fusion and contemporary acoustic influences.
Throughout his career, he has collaborated with several artistes, including Forward Mazuruse, Audinence Kuimba, South Africa-based Maxie Set Apart, Kim Afro Poetic Mind and hip-hop artiste, Will B.
He has also shared the stage with celebrated musicians such as Louis Mhlanga, Edith WeUtonga, Clive “Mono” Mukundu and Mokoomba — experiences that have shaped his musical growth.
With “Parumano” and “Moyo Wangu”, WaCharie once again demonstrates his commitment to creating meaningful music that speaks to the realities of everyday life.
