NYAMAROPA villagers in Nyanga District’s Ward 12 have joined hands to assist in efforts to construct a Waiting Mothers’ Shelter in the area.

The development is set to go a long way in helping expecting mothers have easy access to antenatal care facilities.

The waiting shelter will also help in reducing maternal and neonatal mortality as well as home deliveries.

Ward 12 councillor, Councillor Anna Manimanzi, said the construction work is a result of the collaborative efforts of Headman Nyamaropa, 10 village heads and the local community.

“We are happy with this development which has seen us working together, with villagers also contributing by providing bricks and quarry stones. The local traditional leadership is also playing an active role,” said Cllr Manimanzi.

Cllr Manimanzi commended development partners Action Aid and Diocese of Mutare Community Care Programme (DOMCCP) for providing technical support as well as roofing material.
