There is something very interesting about the story of the children of Israel that I shared with a good friend of mine last week. If applied properly, the same principle should relate to our lives.
Did you know that the children of Israel were given manna as food from Heaven, but the conditions were that they had to gather the manna before it could be eaten? There was some kind of physical activity required in order to partake of the gift of food that was provided directly from above.
God, in His wisdom, decided that He would provide His people with food, but the manna would only be eaten after being gathered. So in order to eat and be nourished, one had to play their part.
Our lives are somewhat like that, we have been presented with opportunities, things that we could be doing or should be doing. The world is our oyster, our Garden of Eden or Sinai desert where we are totally dependent on God’s provision. For us to enjoy this provision, we are sometimes tasked with the responsibility of ensuring that we pick up the manna and gather it before we eat it.
So many of us are bitter with the Lord, we get angry and want to give up because things are not going our way. We expect everything to be done for us, but the condition attached for some of the blessings we ask for is that we pick up and gather where we are required to.
Is there manna in whatever form of activity that you should be doing for your dreams to come true? Maybe you need to write exams, go to school or travel a distance to find your Utopia. What has been presented to you that you know you need to get to?
Sometimes we lead average and mediocre lives all because we do not want to put in the effort required to get things done. The Lord will look after His own, but being lazy and making excuses will not unlock the doors to the dreams you have been birthed with.
It’s sometimes easier to be bitter and angry with those that are successful, but if you take a close look at their lives, you will see that they work hard, never give up and are always in the bull’s ring fighting.
You have no one to blame, but yourself when you fail to explore or grab the opportunities that you have been given.
