FC PLATINUM goalkeeper Wallace Magalane reached a 10-match clean sheet milestone at the weekend as the platinum miners beat Harare City 2-0 to take their unbeaten run to 10 games.

The platinum miners took their points tally to 50 points in 23 matches as they opened an eight-point lead over second-placed Chicken Inn who drew 0-0 away at ZPC Kariba.

Magalane has been a key figure in FC Platinum’s title charge since coming in to replace seasoned goalkeeper Petros Mhari who picked an injury in the champions’ last league defeat on April 30 when they went down 1-0 to Herentals.

Leading to 10 clean sheets, FC Platinum first recorded seven consecutive wins that started with a 3-0 against Caps United, 2-0 away at Yadah, 4-0 home win against Triangle United, three aways victories to Cranborne Bullets (1-0), Tenax (2-0), Chicken Inn (3-0) and Bulawayo Chiefs (1-0).

The winning run was punctuated by a 0-0 draw against Dynamos, after which FC Platinum bounced back to winning ways as they beat ZPC Kariba 1-0.

At the weekend FC Platinum condemned Harare City to a home defeat.

The 28-year-old Magalane who briefly left FC Platinum for Caps United in 2020 before returning to Zvishavane last year without kicking a ball at the Green Machine after the 2020 season was suspended due to the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic, is the favourite to win the July Player of the Month award.
