THERE was blood on the gold as a deadly brawl broke out at Hidden Secret Mine in Umguza. An unidentified man met a gruesome end after he was struck on the head with an axe during a heated dispute over gold ore.
Police say the suspects, known only as Derrick and Samampo, are on the run following the savage attack that erupted on Workers’ Day, May 1.
All three men were said to be artisanal miners. The fatal blow reportedly came after a misunderstanding flared while they were processing gold ore.
The police, in a statement on X, said they have launched a full investigation and appealed for information that could lead to the arrest of the suspects.
