War veteran Mhlanga dies

WAR veteran Cde Elivis Mhlanga has died.

He was 55. Cde Mhlanga passed on at Thorngrove Hospital in Bulawayo on Tuesday last week. In a statement, Zanu-PF Bulawayo provincial chairman Professor Callistus Ndlovu said Cde Mhlanga will be buried at the Bulawayo Provincial Heroes’ Acre in Nkulumane on Tuesday after he was declared a Liberation War Hero.

Cde Mhlanga was born at Mpilo Central Hospital in 1963. He did his primary education at Magwegwe Primary and then proceeded to Ihlathi Secondary.

He joined the liberation war in 1977 in Zambia  and was trained at Mlungushi Camp.

At independence he was attested into the Zimbabwe National Army and retired in 1983 on medical grounds.

After retirement he trained as a motor mechanic and worked at Puzey and Payne for a short period.

Mourners are gathered at House Number 72834 Lobengula West.
