War vets’ children call for sanctions removal

CHILDREN of Veterans of the Liberation Struggle Apex Council interim executive have called for the total removal of sanctions which they say are an impediment to the country’s economic growth.
Addressing the media at the launch of the Apex Council in Harare yesterday afternoon, the association’s vice chairman, Cde Garikai Musika, said members of the association will stand solidly behind the SADC Anti-Sanctions Day.
“We stand solidly behind the Zimbabwe anti-sanctions campaign. The sanctions are illegal and anyone with common sense would call for the removal of the sanctions.
“We are the defenders of the struggle and it is now our duty and our turn to defend the present-day struggle. The struggle is not over, it continues and hence we are here to announce to the nation and the world at large that as children of the liberation struggle, we stand firmly behind Zanu PF and our Government,” said Cde Musika.
In 2019, SADC set aside October 25 as Anti-Sanctions Day, adding their voice to that of Zimbabweans who are united in their call for the removal of sanctions.
As the chair of SADC, the late Tanzanian President Dr John Magufuli was instrumental in ensuring the regional adoption of the Anti-Sanctions Day, saying the country had “now opened a new chapter and was ready to engage with the rest of the world.”
