The war veterans besieged the offices after reportedly failing to get audience with the DA Mr Stanley Chamisa.
Mr Chamisa had scheduled a meeting with the war veterans a week before but allegedly failed to attend the meeting due to ill health.
The war veterans were allegedly incensed by this development.
They ordered the assistant district administrator Ms Elisa Chauke out of the offices before they locked them.
The situation returned to normal early this week after Ms Chauke and the war veterans struck a compromise deal.
Masvingo provincial administrator Mr Felix Chikovo confirmed that there were disturbances at the DA’s offices in Mwenezi.
He attributed the locking of the DA’s offices at Mwenezi to a misunderstanding involving the war veterans.
“Yes, its true there was a misunderstanding between a group of war veterans and the district administrator which led to the locking of the offices at Mwenezi, but the situation has since been rectified,” said Mr Chikovo. “There was a slight misunderstanding related to issues of land and the war veterans ended up having the DA offices locked and ordering everyone to go home but the issue was solved.”
Mr Chikovo said a breakthrough between the war veterans and Ms Chauke was found after a meeting.
There are thousands of people on the waiting list for land in Masvingo.
The Masvingo provincial leadership is pinning its hopes on the completion of Tokwe-Murkosi Dam in Chivi which will open up more resettlement land in the arid Mwenezi and Chiredzi districts.
