The newly-elected Zimbabwe National Liberation War Veterans Association (ZNLWVA) has suspended its vice chairperson Cde Shorai Mangondo on allegations of indiscipline.

She is accused of bringing the association’s name into disrepute through her actions on social media, including derogatory comments about the President.

ZNLWVA spokesperson Cde Cornelius Muwoni confirmed the suspension.

“Cde Mangondo was suspended for bringing the name of the association into disrepute. As an association, we condemn any element of indiscipline,” said Cde Muwoni.

She is appealing against the suspension in line with the organisation’s constitution.

Cde Muwoni confirmed that any member who feels aggrieved has the right to appeal.

“We have a constitution which needs to be adhered to. Members are obliged to follow the laid down procedures as stipulated in the constitution,” he said.

The Second Republic strongly supports war veterans and has initiated a programme to financially equip them so they venture into various businesses.

A US$1,5 million war veterans’ fund has been set up to empower them, with each province set to benefit.
