to appear in court for their routine remand.
Shepherd Munemo (39), Zvikomborero Doma (20), Charles Samuriwo (58) and Takunda Mukonoweshuro (23) are facing two counts of fraud.
Magistrate Mr Lazini Ncube last week issued warrants of arrest for the four, who are on US$100 bail each after the prosecution applied for their arrest. They are all denying the charges against them.
Prosecutor Mr Henry Muringani alleged that on June 25 this year, the suspected con artists flighted an advert in the Herald selling Stand Number 14280 Gunhill in Harare.
The prospective buyer Mr Richard Musasiwa contacted them. He allegedly spoke to one Denenga, who is still at large.
It is alleged that Denenga directed Mr Musasiwa to house number 11850 Zengeza 4, Chitungwiza.
When Mr Musasiwa went to Zengeza 4 service station Doma collected him to the place. On arrival, Denenga introduced himself as the owner of the stand and Samuriwo as Denenga’s father and a witness to the sale of the property.
A deposit of US$2 000 was paid to Denenga and Mukonoweshuro. Mr Musasiwa discovered later that he had been conned when he went to Deeds Office to make inquiries.
Again on June 26, they advertised the sale of the same property in the Sunday Mail.
Mr Musasiwa responded to the advert by calling the provided mobile number and was answered by Samuriwo who reportedly misrepresented as the owner of the property.
Samuriwo then directed Mr Musasiwa to go and view the stand, after which he expressed his willingness to buy the property.
Mr Musasiwa, who was accompanied to the stand by Denenga and Mukonoweshuro, was then taken to 11850 Zengeza 4 where he was made to pay a deposit of US$2 000 to Denenga. A trap was set up before
Samuriwo and Doma were called to come and collect the balance leading to their arrest.
